About the client

Since its founding in 1964, ELARABY Group has maintained business partnerships with some of the world’s most well-known brands in the marketing and production of electronic and electrical goods. ELARABY business’s link with the Japanese firm TOSHIBA dates back to 1974, when TOSHIBA is said to have helped the ELARABY company join the manufacturing area by giving technical and technological assistance. In 2002, ELARABY Group partnered with another Japanese powerhouse; SHARP, and has since expanded its global alliances to include some of the world’s most recognizable brands. With around 40,000 employees in 26 factories locations, in addition to the health & care services that ELARABY provides, ELARABY Group needed an automated & governance HR network connected with the IT department for better employees’ life cycle management.

The Challenge​

Due to the magnitude of the ELARABY group, the processes of Employees enrollment and termination takes a very
lengthy period.
So, one of the solutions was Identity and Access Management “IAM” ; a system that links the HR & IT departments,
which helps identifying the life cycle of employees from the hiring date till the leave date. The challenges were:


1. Increasing Number of Systems Across ELARABY as they are using a wide variety of applications to serve their
specific business needs; this means the challenge of provisioning all the ELARABY employees to use these
applications while respecting the access and privileges policies according to their roles and job descriptions.
2. New organization chart hierarchical changes due to moves and layoffs as having employees moving across the
different departments or even leaving ELARABY organization means the necessity of reflecting these changes
across all systems and applications deployed throughout the organization.
3. Security requirements become more demanding than before as not investing in strong cybersecurity tools is
putting ELARABY at risk of phishing attacks and password

The Solution​

Launching “IAM” which is operated by the authorized individuals who abide by the regulations to maintain the
employees’ life cycle management, allowing them to integrate important HR functions with data system, monitor the
system logs & accesses by the employees in different departments.

The Implementation​

1. Synchronizing “IAM” with SAP (HR system) to trace the employee life cycle from their hiring date till their leave
day
2. Monitoring the different department system access authorization to Control the employees logging/functioning
the system according to their titles

3. Achieving advanced group membership
4. Tracking & unifying what employees can use on the system & what they cannot use

Achieved Milestones & Solution Benefit​s

1. Identified the life cycle managements for ELARABY employees decreasing the time frame needed to change the
titles & amend group membership
2. Removed the dependency between the HR & IT departments in hiring, promoting, and leaving company
processes
3. Defined the employees on/offboarding workflow
4. Practiced the roll-based access control
5. Controlled & improved the vacation system for all the employees
6. Standardized the user provisioning & identified the employees user rights
7. Permit the applications usage according to the use analysis
8. Discovery of redundant or unnecessary permissions on users’ accounts
